14 Killed in Fatal Road Crash Along Kampala–Gulu Highway

At least 14 people have been confirmed dead following a fatal road traffic crash that occurred on the night of July 7 at Bobi Trading Centre along the Kampala–Gulu Highway.
According to the police, the crash involved motor vehicle UBE 110H, an Isuzu bus belonging to OPIT Travellers Company, and motor vehicle KBS 564D/ZE 7948, a Mercedes-Benz Actros trailer.
In a statement, police said, “Fourteen (14) people have been confirmed dead, while twenty-eight (28) others sustained injuries. The injured victims have been rushed to various medical facilities for treatment.”
The Gulu City Council expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, saying it is working closely with the police, Gulu Regional Referral Hospital, Lacor Hospital, and C-Care Hospital to establish the condition of the injured and obtain verified information about the incident.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and everyone affected by this tragedy. We also commend the emergency responders and healthcare workers who are providing assistance to the injured,” the council said in a statement.
The council further urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information as investigations and emergency response efforts continue.
Meanwhile, Kilak North Member of Parliament Anthony Akol also expressed sadness over the accident, saying leaders would await an official statement from the relevant authorities before commenting further on the circumstances surrounding the crash.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones, those nursing injuries, and everyone affected by this devastating incident. We pray that God grants strength, comfort, and courage to the bereaved during this difficult time, and we ask Him to grant a swift and complete recovery to the injured,” Akol said.
