President Museveni Praises Abdalla Anyuru Family

OYAM – President Yoweri Museveni has eulogized the Abdulla Anyuru family, recognizing their “historic and patriotic role in nation building” as he mourned the death of Sam Bua Anyuru.
Denis Hamson Obua, National Resistance Movement Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda and Senior Presidential Advisor, represented Museveni at the burial of Sam Bua in Oyam today. Obua read the President’s condolence message.
“On behalf of Government, NRM party and my own, I extend my heartfelt condolence to the family of Mzee Abdalla Anyuru upon the demise of a cherished member of your family,” Museveni said.
He recalled that Mzee Abdalla Anyuru, former Chairperson of the Public Service Commission during the Obote I government, was among those who suffered extrajudicial killing under Amin’s regime. “Mzee Anyuru was the one who recruited me into government service when I completed my studies at Dar es-Salaam University,” Museveni added.
The President noted that such killings “resulted in the decay of the nascent civil service, army, business class, etc.” and said the Anyuru family’s sacrifice must be remembered.
Sam Bua Anyuru, son of the late Mzee Abdalla Anyuru, who died from France, was today laid to rest at their ancestral home in Aber Sub-county, Oyam District. Hon. Obua handed over Shs 10m condolence contribution from H.E Museveni.
