KWANIA: Security agencies in Kwania District have been commended for maintaining law and order during the Local Council I (LCI) elections, which were conducted peacefully across the district.
The District Returning Officer, Sarah Kezia Birungi, praised the security team for ensuring a calm and orderly electoral process.
“I want to salute security, the media and all stakeholders for the efforts exhibited during the exercise. I commend the security officers who remained vigilant and professional in ensuring that every eligible voter exercised their democratic right in a peaceful environment,” Birungi said.
She also thanked the residents of Kwania for remaining peaceful and cooperating with security personnel throughout the elections.
“We also appreciate the people of Kwania for remaining peaceful throughout the electoral process and electing leaders of their choice,” she added.
The Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Abraham Aturu, warned anyone intending to disrupt the remaining electoral activities that security agencies would continue enforcing the law until the entire electoral process is concluded.
“Our responsibility is to protect every citizen and ensure that elections are conducted in accordance with the law. We shall continue providing security until the entire electoral process is concluded. It is our core responsibility to provide security, and whoever thinks we are politicking is wasting his or her time,” Aturu said.
Oluma Majit, who was re-elected as LCI chairperson of Olami B Cell in Aduku Town Council, credited the security agencies for the peaceful outcome of the elections.
“The role played by security from the onset of the election contributed to the peaceful results we are seeing today,” he said in a telephone interview on Sunday.
Another resident, Willy Akwero of Inyer Village, also praised the security personnel under the command of Aturu for maintaining peace and impartiality throughout the electoral process.
“I pray that Aturu and the new DPC, SP Paul Kadogo, remain in Kwania. They should not be transferred,” Akwero said.
The LC I elections were successfully completed in all 447 villages across Kwania District. Voting in 12 polling stations that had earlier been postponed was also successfully conducted on August 1, 2026.
Residents particularly applauded the security team led by Deputy RDC Abraham Aturu, District Internal Security Officer (DISO) Ola Sam, Deputy DISO Frank Kyambadde and District Police Commander (DPC) SP Paul Kadogo for ensuring a peaceful and successful electoral exercise.
