Farmers in the Lango sub-region have praised Eggo Farm organic fertilizer, manufactured by Fidena Agri Uganda Ltd, for improving crop yields and increasing household incomes.

The fertilizer, produced in Lira City, is rapidly transforming agricultural productivity among farmers in the region.

Jackline Amollo, a farmer from Aweeiwot Village in Apala Sub-county, Alebtong District, said she has been using the fertilizer for two years and has witnessed remarkable results.

“Before using, I planted groundnuts on two acres and harvested only two sacks, which almost made me abandon the crop altogether,” she said.

“However, after I started applying the fertilizer, my harvest increased from two sacks to 20 sacks. This encouraged me greatly, and since then I have continued using it to improve my production.”

Another farmer, George Ocen, described the fertilizer as a breakthrough in his farming activities.

“I had heard about Eggo Farm before, but I could not access it immediately. One day I found it being sold at Musiwini Trading Centre and bought some. After applying it to my tomatoes, I noticed immediate improvement in growth and yield,” he explained.

A third farmer, Dick Ongom, said the improved harvests enabled him to increase his income and construct a permanent house.

“Last year, I harvested 20 sacks of groundnuts and earned Shs3 million from sales yet I used only sh34000. It helped me to complete the construction of my residential house,” he noted.

The farmers encouraged others to embrace the use of organic fertilizers and move away from conventional farming practices that do not involve soil nutrient replenishment.

The company is transforming organic waste into high-impact fertilizer that is boosting crop yields, increasing farmers’ incomes, and helping to solve the growing waste crisis.

Garbage that once littered the environment especially in Lira City is now being turned into valuable agricultural inputs. Organic waste is recycled into liquid fertilizer and manure, helping farmers improve productivity and boost food production.

Located in Adwila, Lira City East Division, Fidena Agri Uganda Ltd developed this innovation five years ago to support small-scale farmers and strengthen food security in Uganda and across East Africa.

The company produces Eggo Farm Organic Fertilizer, a natural product made from organic waste such as eggshells and banana peels. The fertilizer provides essential nutrients for plant growth while promoting sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation.

According to managing director Denis Ogwang, the product is 100% organic, affordable, easy to use, and can increase crop yields by up to 140%.

“It has been developed through prototypes and approved by the National Agricultural Research Organization and the Uganda National Bureau of Standards,” he said.

Ogwang added that their main target is to explore the East Africa market and embark on exporting.
