FIMAT enrolls 350 students for certificate and diploma programmes

About 350 students have enrolled at the Fountainhead Institute of Management and Technology (FIMAT) to pursue various junior certificate and national diploma programmes aimed at equipping them with practical vocational skills.
The students, who reported on Monday, are undertaking courses including certificate and diploma in agricultural production, certificate in plumbing, national certificate in motor vehicle mechanics, national certificate in woodwork technology, and building construction, among others. The institute is located in Awita Cell, Amuca Ward, Lira City.
While addressing the students during orientation, the principal, Tom Okao, urged them to focus on their studies and avoid being distracted by challenges from their home backgrounds.
“Don’t dwell on the hardships you went through to reach where you are. Forget the past and move forward for a brighter future,” he advised.
Okao emphasized that the institute was established to provide quality tertiary education with a strong practical approach focused on problem-solving and community empowerment for sustainable development.
He added that students who secure the opportunity to study at FIMAT will gain skills that enable them not only to seek employment but also to create their own jobs.
He said the institute is still admitting students for certificate and diploma programmes in various vocational skills, including business administration, information and communication technology, records and information management, welding and metal fabrication, and fashion and garment design, among others.
