Fountainhead Institute of Management and Technology (FIMAT), located in Awita Cell, Amuca Ward in Lira City, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nobi and Partners Development Foundation in Aruu, Pader District, to secure bursaries for children from underprivileged families.

The agreement was reached on Friday at the institute’s campus, located five kilometers along the Lira–Kampala Highway. It was signed by the principal, Tom Okao, and Olara Felix Moses, District Coordinator for Aruu Project Phase II.

Under the MoU, FIMAT will offer a half bursary and flexible payment terms, allowing beneficiaries to pay fees in installments. Meanwhile, Nobi and Partners Development Foundation will mobilize eligible students, handle registration, provide necessary requirements, and coordinate with parents.

Olara noted that many farmers in the area have children who qualify for vocational training but are unable to afford school fees.

“This therefore made us resolve to seek for an opportunity to partner with Fountainhead basing on the history of high level excellence, customer care, flexible financial policies and products that smartly fit into all our community development interventions,” he said.

He further appealed to the institute to support the initiative by granting children access to professional education under favorable terms and conditions.

According to Olara, the community-based organization has been operating since 2015, implementing livelihood projects aimed at fighting poverty by boosting livestock production, crop production, and small-scale businesses among its 250 members.

FIMAT was established in 2006 and formally licensed by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) in 2012 before being classified in 2018. Its mission is “to provide quality tertiary education with a practical orientation that targets problem-solving and community empowerment for sustainable development.”
