Eddy Morris Ogweng is a Ugandan politician, development practitioner, and entrepreneur, currently standing as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate for Lira CityWest Division.

Born in 1984, Ogweng brings a wealth of experience in humanitarian work, community development, and leadership both in Uganda and abroad.

Before his current political bid, Mr. Ogweng contested for Member of Parliament for Kole South in 2021. His decision to contest in Lira City West stems from his deep commitment to community empowerment, youth employment, and inclusive development within the Lango Sub-region.

Ogweng’s impressive academic portfolio reflects his dedication to education and global development.

He holds a Master’s in International Development from Nexus International University, and a Master’s in International Cooperation & Humanitarian Aid from Kalu Institute, Spain. He also obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Mental Health in Complex Emergencies from the Center for International Humanitarian Cooperation, Fordham University (USA) — a program undertaken at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, UK.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Community Psychology from Makerere University, following earlier education at Maryland High School EntebbeAmach Complex S.S. Lira, and Baramindyang Primary School.

Professionally, Ogweng has served in senior capacities with Food for the Hungry International and the International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR). His work in these organizations focused on sustainable livelihoods, humanitarian response, and community resilience.

Beyond his humanitarian and political work, Ogweng is a passionate entrepreneur. He founded The Odwar Fund, an initiative supporting education and social welfare in northern Uganda, and Smart Agricultural Solutions, a venture promoting modern farming and agribusiness innovations.

His entrepreneurial success earned him national recognition as Uganda’s Best Farmer (2015), awarded by the Netherlands Embassy, and Uganda’s Best Young Employer (2017), presented by the Federation of Uganda Employers and the International Labour Organization (ILO). He was also listed among Uganda’s Top 40 Men Under 40, celebrating outstanding young leaders and innovators.

Eddy Morris Ogweng has long been an advocate for unity and progress within the Lango community. He previously served as a Permanent Representative of the Lango Communityin North America, where he mobilized diaspora networks to support development initiatives back home.

Through his leadership and vision, Ogweng has engaged with global and national leaders, hosting dignitaries including President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, King Oyo of Tooro, cabinet ministers, and international delegations.

Eddy Morris ogweng has featured in key international programs like the UNAA (Uganda North America Association) Convention as a panelist on the trade & investment forum,he has also participated in investor Trips Netherlands,a Flagstaff program that links European investors with African entrepreneurs including several other global programs that has been instrumental in the growth of the business sector in Uganda.
