The Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI), Lira and Lango Chapter has officially unveiled plans to construct a UGX 5.8 billion state-of-the-art Chamber House, a landmark project designed to serve as the nerve center for business innovation, investment coordination, and private sector growth in the Lango Subregion.
The ambitious six-level Chamber House project forms part of the Chamber’s 10-year Visionary Plan and Strategy (2025–2035), which seeks to strengthen Lango’s economic competitiveness, stimulate trade, and promote industrialization.
According to Dr. Morris Chris Ongom, Director of the Lango Chamber of Commerce, the project will be developed through a corporation model, bringing together key stakeholders including private investors, development partners, government agencies, and the Lango business community.
“This model ensures shared ownership, sustainability, and a sense of pride among the people of Lango,” he noted.
Once completed, Ongom said the Chamber House will host modern business offices, innovation and training spaces, a resource center, and facilities to support enterprise development and trade facilitation.
The building will also serve as a hub for investment networking and policy dialogue between the public and private sectors.
The initiative is one of the three flagship projects under the Lango Tri-Investment Initiative, alongside the proposed International Airport in Lira City and the Lira Industrial Park, all envisioned to drive the region’s economic transformation, create jobs, and position Lango as a competitive hub for trade and industry in Northern Uganda according to Ongom.
Dr. Ongom emphasized that the groundwork, architectural designs, and implementation framework are already in place and that the next step is to mobilize partnerships and financing from government, local and national investors to kick-start the construction in 2026/27.
“This is more than a building — it’s a symbol of Lango’s rise, innovation, and readiness to compete in a modern economy,” he said. “The Chamber House will embody our collective commitment to build wealth, create opportunities, and transform livelihoods.”
Ongom added that with strong collaboration between business leaders, the government, the Lango Cultural Institution, and development partners, the Chamber House is set to become a beacon of enterprise and progress and a testament to the power of vision, unity, and local innovation.
